Scott Wetzel Windermere Real Estate Leader: A Visionary in Real Estate and Beyond
Scott Wetzel Windermere Real Estate Leader: A Legacy of Growth
In the dynamic world of real estate, few individuals have made as profound an impact as Scott Wetzel, Windermere Real Estate Leader. As the President and CEO of Windermere Services Mountain West, Scott oversees a vast network of 75 offices, 1,200 agents, and 42 franchise owners across four states—Eastern Washington, Eastern Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. His leadership has shaped the Windermere brand in these regions, much like a franchisor overseeing independent owners, akin to the McDonald’s corporate model.
Beyond his role as a franchisor, Scott and his wife, Tracie, also own and operate Windermere Valley, Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, and Sandpoint, Idaho offices. This dual role provides them with a unique perspective on both sides of the business. Additionally, Scott serves as the Chief Development Officer for Windermere Corporate, spearheading franchise growth across 10 states with 400 offices and 7,500 agents.
Recognized as a 2025 Person of Influence
Scott Wetzel was recently featured in Spokane’s Journal of Business as one of the 2025 People of Influence for his significant contributions to the real estate industry and business community. This recognition highlights his leadership, innovation, and impact in growing and supporting franchise owners and agents throughout the region.
Scott Wetzel Windermere Real Estate Leader: From Tech to Business Success
Scott’s career path is anything but conventional. Before entering real estate, he spent a decade in the technology industry during its rapid expansion. In sales, Scott played a pivotal role in supplying personal computers, servers, and software to Fortune 500 companies. His clients included Microsoft when it had just 11 buildings in Redmond and Amazon when it operated from a single building in Seattle.
Scott also worked at Nordstrom, managing the men’s suit department as the company’s youngest department manager. These early experiences in customer service, sales, and leadership built the foundation for his future success.
A Mindset Forged by Experience
Scott’s upbringing in Spokane shaped his perspective on success and resilience. Raised in a financially struggling household, he experienced firsthand the challenges of food stamps and free lunches. These hardships fueled his determination to achieve financial independence.
He attended Whitworth University on a baseball talent scholarship and earned degrees in psychology and sociology. These disciplines have given him valuable insights into human behavior, which he applies to business and leadership.
His transition from technology to real estate was unexpected. After co-owning a tech company and experiencing stock market volatility, he reassessed his career path. A meeting with his neighbor and future mentor, John Becker, set him on the path to real estate leadership.
Building and Expanding Businesses
Scott’s business philosophy focuses on strategic growth, leadership, and innovation. His impact on Windermere is evident—he expanded its footprint from 35 to 72 offices in one year. In 2015, he and Tracie acquired Windermere Services Mountain West, solidifying their influence in the industry.
Beyond real estate, Scott has diversified his business portfolio. He is the Chairman & CEO of Medication Review, Inc., a pharmaceutical services company. He also leads Black Pearl Holdings, which includes 360 Distributors, Aikido Technology Services, and Black Pearl Benefits.

Scott attributes his success to several key principles:
- Servant Leadership – Prioritizing the success of others to create thriving businesses.
- Strategic Expansion – Making calculated moves to scale operations effectively.
- Innovative Thinking – Leveraging technology and emerging trends to stay competitive.

Overcoming the Challenges of COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic tested Scott’s leadership. Remote work disrupted office culture, reducing team interaction. Scott navigated these difficulties by restructuring office spaces, renegotiating leases, and ensuring business continuity.
